According to the Puerto Rico Tourism Company Puerto Rico’s hotels saw the number of non-resident hotel registrations decrease by 31.6% in August 2018, falling from 167,656 registrations in August 2017 to 115,089 registrations in August 2018. Registrations by US residents decreased by 33.2%, from 156,100 in August 2017 to 104,285 in August 2018.
The number of cruise visitors increased by 22.4%, from 104,044 cruise visitors in July 2017 to 127,327 cruise visitors in July 2018.
Through the first eight months of 2018 Puerto Rico’s hotels saw a 40.6% decrease in the number of non-resident hotel registrations, falling from 1,361,457 registrations in the first eight months of 2017 to 808,371 registrations in the same eight months of 2018. Registrations by non-resident from the US decreased by 45.6% in the first eight months of 2018, falling from 1,259,377 registrations in 2017 to 684,995 registrations in the same eight months of 2018.
The number of cruise visitors increased by 3.6% in the first seven months of 2018, growing from 889,355 cruise visitors in 2017 to 921,112 in 2018.
