According to the Costa Rica Institute of Tourism ICT, Costa Rica saw the volume of stopovers increase by 3.4% in October 2018, growing from 166,683 stopovers in October 2017 to 172,463 stopovers in October 2018. The number from the USA grew by 2.3%, from 55,629 in October 2017 to 56,884 in October this year.
Through the first ten months of 2018 Costa Rica saw a 1.1% increase in the volume of stopovers, growing from 2,444,635 stopovers in the first ten months of 2017 to 2,472,187 stopovers in the same ten months of 2018. The number from the USA increased by 4.7% in the first ten months of 2018, from 998,403 stopovers in 2017 to 1,045,369 in the same ten months of 2018. Stopovers from the USA comprise 42% of Costa Rica’s tourist arrivals.
